SUMMARY:AGC Edge: Lean Construction Education Program\, 2nd Edition - Hybrid
DESCRIPTION:Lean Construction is driven to minimize costs and maximize value on each project completed\, challenging all stakeholders to develop and apply better ways to manage the overall construction process.\n\n\n\nThe updated AGC Edge Lean Construction Education Program engages students with numerous activities and group discussions designed to apply Lean Construction principles and practices. Key course activities include the Parade of Trades exercise where participants will learn the effects of varying and unreliable workflow versus smooth and reliable workflow. Students will also learn and practice the Last Planner  System in a simulation that teaches students to engage in a way that produces predictable workflow and rapid learning.\n\n\n\nAfter participants complete all five units in the program\, they become eligible to sit for an exam to earn the Certificate of Management   Lean Construction (CM-Lean).\n\n\n\nWho Should Take This Course\n\nConstruction operations staff from general contractors\, specialty contractors\, construction managers and trade partners at all levels from chief operating officer to project engineer and foreman.\n\n\n\nSchedule of Classes\n\nUnit 1   Introduction to Lean Construction\n\nUnit 2   Process and Production Basics\n\nUnit 3   Project Production Systems\n\nUnit 4   Lean Thinking in Field Production\, Last Planner  System\n\nUnit 5   Lean Thinking Outside of Field Production\n\n\n\nLCEP Learning Objectives\n\n\n\nCourses are delivered via the Zoom platform\; a webcam and mic are required for participation. She is the cofounder and serves at the chair for the Oklahoma Lean Construction Community of Practice and is an LCI and AGC approved Lean Construction instructor. She started her lean journey over a decade ago with the completion of her Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification and was immediately immersed in the philosophy of improving what we do every day and eliminating waste to create value. Since then\, her passion has been leading positive change in numerous industries: Healthcare\, Nonprofits\, Industrial\, Construction and Design industries and coaching others starting on their lean journey. Heather holds a bachelor's in interior design and Masters in Construction Management.\n\n\n\n\n\nColin Milberg | Ph.D.\n\nVirtual Support Instructor\n\nPrincipal\n\nASKM & Associates\n\n\n\nColin has over 20 years of construction management experience in both the office and the field\, combined with seven years of university teaching experience in construction engineering and management. Colin has worked with public and private organizations on projects ranging from $2 million to $1 billion\, assisting project teams and organizations in implementing Lean Construction and Enterprise practices. Colin has a Ph.D. from U.C. Berkeley\, where he studied Lean Construction and tolerance management with the Lean Construction Institute (LCI) founders.
