Mental Health Resources for the Holiday Season…and Beyond Brought to you by the AGC MA HR Committee

While the holiday season can be a joyful time, it also can bring additional stress and depression into our already hectic lives.  In its continued support of mental health in the construction industry, the AGC MA Human Resources Committee has compiled a list of resources that can help those that may be struggling during this time of year. Do whatever makes you most comfortable, but if you are struggling in any way, please seek help. You are not alone.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

An EAP program is a voluntary, work-based program that offers free and confidential assessments, short-term counseling, referrals and follow-up services to employees and their family members who have personal and /or work-related problems. EAPs address a broad and complex body of issues affecting mental and emotional well-being, such as alcohol and other substance abuse, stress, grief, family problems, and psychological disorders. Contact your HR department for more information. 

Your Health Plan

Most employee health plans are committed to making mental and behavioral health care options more available to more members, in more ways than ever before.  Contact your health plan customer service line or access their website for additional information and resources. 

Reach out to Your Doctor

Contact your primary care doctor and be honest about your situation, working together to create a plan for accessing treatment. During the COVID-19 crisis, accessing medical services may look different than it would prior to the pandemic – your doctor or other medical professional may be providing services through telehealth mechanisms, for example. Find a place in your home or somewhere safe where you can talk your questions through with your doctor confidentially.


Reach out to a Company Supervisor, your Union Representatives and/or Human Resources Professional

These team members are working hard to navigate the new realities of mental health and wellness and their effect on the workplace. They will work within the company’s workplace policy to help you get treatment and preserve your job status.
