BWiC Welcomes back special guest speaker Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito
After a first term focused on moving Massachusetts forward through bipartisan, results-driven leadership, Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito was sworn in for a second term in January, 2019. Since taking office in 2015, Lt. Governor Polito has visited and partnered with leadership in all 351 of the Commonwealth's cities and towns, building on a fundamental belief and understanding that Massachusetts' success is driven by the strength of its diverse people and places. Recognizing the importance of affordable housing, mobility, and resiliency on the overall strength and vitality of the state, Lt. Governor Polito has helped municipalities take advantage of grant programs geared towards housing production, transit improvements, and climate preparedness. Furthermore, Lt. Governor Polito has utilized her role as chair of the Community Compact Cabinet, Seaport Economic, and Governor's Council to Address Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence, and co-chair of the STEM Advisory Council, to spearhead numerous initiatives to improve the quality of life for residents across the Commonwealth.
