Andrea Joy Campbell is the Attorney General of Massachusetts, dedicated to advancing equity, justice, and opportunity for all. Growing up in Roxbury, Andrea faced immense challenges, including the loss of her mother as an infant, her father’s incarceration, and the tragic passing of her twin brother while in state custody. Despite these hardships, she persevered with the support of relatives, teachers, and her community, graduating from Boston Latin School, Princeton University, and UCLA Law School.
Andrea’s career reflects her commitment to public service and systemic change. She began as a legal services attorney defending the rights of children and families, later serving as legal counsel to Governor Deval Patrick and as General Counsel at the Metropolitan Area Planning Commission. In 2015, she became the first woman to represent District 4 on the Boston City Council, later serving as the Council’s first Black woman president. Elected Attorney General in 2022, Andrea continues to be a powerful advocate and champion for Massachusetts residents.
