Description
Leading with Intention: Building Defensible Pay in a Construction Business
How confident are you that your organization can clearly explain—and defend—how compensation decisions are made?
Join Chris Floyd and Mimi Curran of C.E. Floyd Company for a practical discussion on building a more consistent, transparent, and defensible approach to compensation in the construction industry. Drawing from C.E. Floyd’s own experience, the program will explore why wage equity is fundamentally a leadership issue, the challenges of benchmarking construction-specific roles, and how documented criteria and reliable industry data can help take subjectivity out of compensation decisions.
C.E. Floyd will share its journey from conducting internal compensation analyses to using AGC industry salary data to establish and regularly update compensation ranges. Attendees will also hear how the company has developed an ongoing process that connects compensation decisions to performance, qualifications, responsibilities, and readiness for advancement.
Attendees will leave with practical strategies to:
- Establish clear, documented criteria for compensation decisions.
- Evaluate comparable work based on roles and responsibilities—not simply job titles.
- Use external construction-industry benchmarks to strengthen compensation ranges.
- Create a consistent review process that supports pay equity, employee trust, retention, and career progression.
Who Should Attend: HR professionals, executives and company leaders, operations professionals, hiring managers, and anyone involved in compensation, performance management, recruiting, or workforce strategy within a construction firm.
Speakers:Chris Floyd, President & CEO, and Mimi Curran, SHRM-SCP, C.E. Floyd Company.
C.E. Floyd was recognized as a 2026 Wage Equity Impact Award recipient by the Boston Women’s Workforce Council and Mayor Michelle Wu.
