Remembering Francis “Bud” Madigan
A Message from AGC MA CEO John Ferrante
On behalf of the Associated General Contractors of Massachusetts, I extend my deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Francis “Bud” Madigan and everyone at F.W. Madigan Company, Inc. on his passing.Bud was a true leader whose impact on our industry extended far beyond the projects he helped build. He was instrumental in helping make F.W. Madigan Company one of the earliest members of both AGC of Massachusetts and AGC of America, beginning a lifetime of service to our Association and the construction industry.
Bud served as President of AGC MA from 1971 to 1973 and remained a dedicated member of our Board of Directors for decades, later becoming a Life Director of AGC of America and serving as its Treasurer. His commitment to advancing the industry also included leadership as Chair of the AGC Education and Research Foundation, where he established the Bud and Mary Madigan Scholarship Fund to support future generations pursuing careers in construction and engineering.
Through his leadership at F.W. Madigan Company, Bud helped guide one of New England’s most respected construction firms while earning the admiration and respect of colleagues across our industry. His commitment to excellence, integrity, education, and service left a lasting mark on AGC MA and the construction community.
As we remember Bud, we are also grateful to have his own words reflecting on the Association that meant so much to him. As part of AGC MA’s Centennial Gala celebrating 100 years of the Association, Bud contributed to a special video commemorating AGC MA’s history and impact. Beginning at approximately 1:30, Bud shares what made AGC MA special to him and reflects on the Association’s importance to the construction industry. His participation offers a meaningful opportunity to hear directly from Bud and remember the dedication he brought to AGC throughout his remarkable career. We are grateful for Bud’s many contributions and the legacy he leaves behind. He will be remembered not only for his professional accomplishments, but for his unwavering dedication to AGC, his generosity in supporting the next generation of industry leaders, and the countless relationships he built throughout his life and career.
Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with the Madigan family and everyone at F.W. Madigan Company during this difficult time.
