To Classify as Independent Contractor...
Description
Sponsored by the AGC MA HR Committee
In recent years, we’ve seen an uptick in enforcement as it relates to the classification and misclassification of individuals providing services to companies as independent contractors versus employees. This issue has arisen across industries especially those that historically rely on contractors to provide a variety of services. The U.S Department of Labor's final rule revising previous guidance on how to analyze such classifications under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act is now in effect. In this webinar, we will address the federal standard as well as standards under a number of laws, agency guidelines, and enforcement initiatives. We will also review best practices that employers should consider as well as the serious risks that misclassification poses. We welcome questions from attendees and participation.
